1. Who we are

AMICA Divorce is an online legal services platform operated by HSLEX Professional Corporation, a law firm authorised to provide legal services in Ontario, Canada. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean HSLEX Professional Corporation.

2. No legal advice

The content on this website is general information about legal services. It is not legal advice and must not be relied on as legal advice. Every situation is different. If you need advice about your own circumstances, contact us or another qualified lawyer.

3. No solicitor-client relationship

Using this website, submitting a form, or sending us an email does not create a solicitor-client relationship. That relationship begins only when we have completed our conflicts check, confirmed in writing that we are able to act for you, and the terms of our engagement have been agreed.

Until we confirm that in writing, please do not send us confidential or privileged information. Information sent before an engagement is confirmed may not be treated as confidential and may not prevent us from acting for another party.

4. Your responsibilities

• Provide accurate, complete and current information
• Upload only documents that you are entitled to share with us
• Keep any secure link we send you private; anyone with the link can view your application
• Tell us promptly if your circumstances or contact details change
• Not use this website for any unlawful purpose, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it

5. Fees and payment

Submitting an enquiry or an application through this website is free and creates no obligation. Where we agree to act, we will provide a written quote before work begins. Invoices are issued by email and are payable by bank transfer using the details on the invoice. We do not process card payments through this website.

Amounts paid in advance of work being performed are held in accordance with our professional obligations. [Trust account handling to be confirmed by HSLEX Professional Corporation.]

Applicable taxes are charged in addition to our fees where required by law. [HST treatment to be confirmed before launch.]

6. Service outcomes

We do not guarantee any particular result. Court timelines, government processing times and the conduct of other parties are outside our control. Any estimate of timing we give is an estimate only.

7. Documents and uploads

Files you upload are stored securely and are accessible only to authorised members of our team. We may set limits on file types and sizes. We may decline to accept a document, or ask you to resubmit it, if it is unreadable, incomplete or unsuitable.

8. Availability

We aim to keep this website available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend, withdraw or change any part of it without notice.

9. Intellectual property

The content, design and code of this website belong to HSLEX Professional Corporation or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce or republish it without our written permission, except for your own personal, non-commercial use.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this website, including any reliance placed on general information published on it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law or by our professional obligations.

11. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply in it. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
